Founded by Henri Johnson, leading inventor and Electronic Engineer, in 1989, EDH is a product development company based in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town, South Africa. EDH develops products for the military and sport markets. Its core expertise is the design and development of 3D tracking radar systems. These are used worldwide by major naval and other military establishments, and by top sports organizations, teaching academies and standards organizations.

In 1992 EDH launched a purpose-built Ballistic Measurement Radar based on phased array technology, that measured projectiles in flight up to distances of 25km. Every ballistic characteristic was successfully measured, including the speed at any point from launch throughout the flight, the spin rate, the x-y-z position in space, as well as various other ballistic features. Speeds were measured to within 0.01% of the actual and angles were measured within 0.05 degrees. These specifications were achieved and rigorously tested at Military Institutions under live fire conditions. The latest EDH systems are even more sophisticated and can measure a projectile over distances greater than 50km and at speeds of up to 3000km/h.

Based on similar technology, and giving equally accurate results as its military cousins, EDH successfully launched its sports products on a worldwide basis. First, a purpose-built bowling speed system for Cricket in 1996, under the name "EDH Speedster,” was introduced. In 2001, the EDH Tennis serve system was launched under the name "EDH RacquetRadar". In 2003, the EDH Golf system was initiated under the name "FlightScope". More sports are planned to benefit from EDH technology, now all grouped under the trademark "Powered by EDH Tracking".

Given its success in tracking technology, EDH has also developed extensive open access to its data outputs so that value added resellers can benefit from proven reliable EDH technology. This enables third parties to display EDH event data without EDH event presence.
