MERE GOLF CLUB SET FOR RE-BRAND

Mere Golf and Country Club is to undergo a rebrand, having appointed Wodehouse Direct to undertake the work.

As well as the new branding for the club, the Manchester agency will also handle the marketing, advertising, point-of-sale and e-commerce design, with the new website which will carry the branding planned for early this year.

The club is currently investing £15m in developing the resort, which will include a new spa and leisure club.

Mark Boler, CEO of Mere Golf and Country Club, commented: “This is an exciting phase in Mere’s history and I am delighted to be working with Wodehouse Direct to create what we hope will become the North West’s number one golf and leisure destination resort. Once complete the club will be re-launched as The Mere Golf Resort and Spa.”

“We’re also looking at re-launching the website with golf news nd stats, and the best places to bet on golf online.”

CASEY STILL UNHAPPY

COLIN MONTGOMERIE last night revealed Paul Casey is still in the huff with him over his decision not to give the Englishman a Ryder Cup wild card.

Monty revealed all attempts to contact Casey in the 10 weeks that have passed since the Celtic Manor victory have been blanked.

The Scot has previously described the decision to not hand a place to a man he calls a friend as the most difficult of his golfing life but it seems he has not been forgiven.

Monty said: “I have still to speak to Paul. I have been trying hard but I’m not getting very far. Email, text and voicemail is about my limit and I can’t do any more than that. But I’ve tried and we’ll leave it like that.”

Leading Europe to victory is the highlight of Montgomerie’s career but he believes the event faces a massive overhaul to make golf’s greatest show even bigger.
